RD list: Dominican Republic starts preparation for the 2026 World Baseball Classic

Santo Domingo – The countdown to the 2026 World Baseball Classic has begun for the Dominican Republic. General Manager Nelson Cruz has announced that the team’s preparation will begin on February 28th.

That day, all the summoned players will meet in Miami to start the training sessions before the tournament.

March 1st will be dedicated to official practices, press sessions, photo sessions, and uniform adjustments.

On March 2, the delegation will travel to the Dominican Republic to continue its preparation on home soil.

This moment will mark a milestone for Dominican baseball, as it will be the first time in the 20-year history of the World Baseball Classic that the national team will play exhibition games in the country.

It’s going to be something historic. Never before had the Dominican team come to play in the country in a World Classic.

Cruz assured that both the players and the fans will have an unforgettable experience.

The exhibition matches against the Detroit Tigers, scheduled for March 3rd and 4th, will serve as the final part of the preparation before the team’s official debut in the tournament, and will allow thousands of Dominican fans to see their national team in action at home for the first time.
