Oneil Cruz Hits Monumental Home Run into the Allegheny River

Dominican shortstop Oneil Cruz showcased his power by hitting an impressive home run that left PNC Park and landed in the Allegheny River, during the game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Minnesota Twins.

Cruz’s hit, which occurred in the third inning, traveled an estimated distance of 450 feet, with an exit velocity of 110.8 miles per hour. This home run became the seventh in the stadium’s history to fall directly into the river without bouncing.

The solo home run came off a cutter from Taj Bradley, bringing Pittsburgh closer on the scoreboard 5-4. In addition, it was the twelfth home run of the season for Cruz, who has 37 RBIs.

Cruz continues to extend his personal record at PNC Park, where he has accumulated seven home runs that have reached the Allegheny, the most for a Pirates player. Four of those hits were connected in the 2024 season.

The player seems to be regaining his offensive rhythm heading into June, after a May with three home runs, having hit nine between March and April.

Ronald Acuña Jr. Remains Hot with the Braves

In another game, Ronald Acuña Jr. was key in the Atlanta Braves’ 8-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

The Venezuelan started the game with a 429-foot home run on the fourth pitch of the game, continuing his good offensive moment after hitting a grand slam the night before at Fenway Park.

Michael Harris II led Atlanta’s offense, batting 5-3 with three RBIs, while Colombian Didier Fuentes earned the win in relief after dominating a complicated situation in the fifth inning.

The Braves secured the victory with a four-run rally in the sixth inning, with contributions from Dominican Jorge Mateo and Mike Yastrzemski.

With this victory, Atlanta consolidates at the top of its division, while Acuña continues to show signs of returning to his best offensive form.
