Mets Celebrate Victory Against Twins, But Lindor’s Injury Cools the Atmosphere
NEW YORK – The New York Mets secured an important victory on Wednesday night, overcoming the Minnesota Twins with a score of 3-2 at Citi Field. However, the joy of the triumph was tempered by the injury of their star shortstop, Francisco Lindor.
The New York team snapped a 12-game losing streak thanks to a key play in the eighth inning. With the game tied at two runs and two outs, Mark Vientos hit a fly ball that couldn’t be caught, allowing Brett Baty to score the run that gave them the lead.
From the mound, Luke Weaver earned the victory, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings and controlling Minnesota’s comeback attempts in the final innings.
Concern gripped the team in the fourth inning when Lindor felt discomfort in his left calf while running the bases after a hit by Francisco Álvarez. Despite managing to score, the Puerto Rican player left the game, visibly affected.
Lindor, who had a standout performance at bat before his departure (2-2 with an RBI and a run scored), was replaced by Baty, while Bo Bichette took over the shortstop position.
The victory represents a relief for the Mets, but Lindor’s possible absence generates uncertainty in a season that has been challenging for the franchise.
