Escogido and Toros Bolster Their Rosters with Imports for the Final Series

Santo Domingo – Los Leones del Escogido and the Toros del Este have selected their imported reinforcements for the Final Series of the 2025-2026 championship, dedicated to Juan Marichal and in option for the Banreservas Cup. The announcement was made this Tuesday in the Imported Draft. The Leones del Escogido chose pitchers Matt Foster and Luis Fernando Miranda. For their part, the Toros del Este opted for Nabil Crismatt and Odrisamer Despaigne. All the players previously selected were part of the Águilas Cibaeñas during the recent Round Robin, now they join the finalist teams.

Analysis of the Selections

Matt Foster, right-handed reliever, had an outstanding performance in the semifinal series. His ERA was 3.00, with a WHIP of 1.00 and a batting average of .182 by his opponents. In three innings pitched, he allowed two hits, one earned run, walked one batter, struck out one batter, and earned two saves. Luis Fernando Miranda, also a right-handed pitcher, demonstrated an excellent performance in the Round Robin, with an ERA of 1.50 and a WHIP of 0.33. In six innings, he allowed only two hits, one earned run, did not concede walks, and struck out seven rivals, thus reinforcing the starting rotation of the Leones. The Toros del Este selected Nabil Crismatt, who although was on the Águilas’ roster, did not play in the semifinal. They also chose Odrisamer Despaigne, who did participate in the Round Robin, with an ERA of 3.18 and a WHIP of 0.88. Despaigne pitched 5.2 innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs, one walk, and striking out three batters. The Imported Draft was conducted by Jorge Torres, technical director of LIDOM, with the participation of Carlos Peña, general manager of the Leones del Escogido, and Jesús Mejía, general manager of the Toros del Este. In the list of players available for the draft, ten players were listed, of which eight belonged to the Águilas Cibaeñas and two to the Gigantes del Cibao.
