LOS ANGELES, U.S. – A few months after announcing his retirement from professional baseball, the iconic pitcher Clayton Kershaw returns to Dodger Stadium, but this time in a different role: as a commentator. The former Los Angeles Dodgers player joins the special broadcast of Opening Day on March 26, in a double header televised by NBC. The Dodgers will face the Arizona Diamondbacks in this event. The opening day will have a special meaning for the Los Angeles organization, which will celebrate the raising of the 2025 World Series flag, after obtaining consecutive championships after defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in seven games.

An Unforgettable Legacy

Clayton Kershaw finished his career in 2025, after 18 seasons with the Dodgers, solidifying a legacy that positions him as a future Hall of Famer. During his career, he accumulated 11 All-Star Game selections, three Cy Young awards, an NL MVP, and two World Series titles. The left-handed pitcher was also part of the United States team in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, although he did not pitch before being substituted, marking the official end of his professional career.

New Stage in the Media

In this new experience, Kershaw will share the screen with the renowned narrator Bob Costas. The broadcast will feature Jason Benetti as the main voice and analysts Orel Hershiser and Luis González. The NBC network plans to maintain a rotation of commentators throughout the 2026 season in its coverage of Sunday Night Baseball, incorporating baseball figures in each game. In addition to the game in Los Angeles, the television station will broadcast the matchup between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Mets, expanding its coverage of the start of the season.

A Significant Return

Kershaw’s return to the stadium where he built his legend not only represents the beginning of a new professional stage, but also a tribute to one of the most outstanding careers in the recent history of Major League Baseball. Now, from the booth, he will remain part of the game that made him an icon.
