Kelvin Cruz begins the reconstruction of the Lidio Guzmán multipurpose hall in La Vega

The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, has started the reconstruction work of the Lidio Guzmán multipurpose facility, located in the municipality of Jima Abajo, La Vega province. This important project has an investment of over 24 million pesos and seeks to boost sports development in the community. This initiative is part of the program implemented by the Ministry of Sports (Miderec), following the guidelines of President Luis Abinader, with the aim of providing quality sports spaces in all municipalities of the country.

President Luis Abinader has been very clear about his great commitment to sports fans and has told me that I have to reach every corner of the country. To the extent possible and establishing priorities, we are going to impact the Dominican Republic on the issue of sports.

Minister Kelvin Cruz highlighted President Luis Abinader’s firm commitment to sports and emphasized the importance of bringing sports to every corner of the country. In the groundbreaking ceremony, the civil and provincial governor of La Vega, Luisa Jiménez de la Mota, and the mayor of Jima Abajo, Ignacio Céspedes, were present, who acknowledged the minister’s work and efficiency. The reconstruction of the Lidio Guzmán multipurpose facility includes the installation of a modern synthetic floor, two professional scoreboards certified by FIBA, with their respective supports, a digital scoreboard and a 24-second clock, as well as nets and electrical installation. A 26-gauge aluzinc roofing, resistant to weather conditions, is also planned, as well as the construction of a perimeter fence in blocks. Additionally, the renovation of locker rooms for athletes, bathrooms for the public, administrative offices and electrical installations will be carried out. The work carried out by Kelvin Cruz at the sports center also includes the remodeling of the stands, the construction of sidewalks with inclusive access areas, and the general painting of the entire complex.
