Sports invests an additional RD$178 million for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games

The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, made a new delivery of resources to the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) for the preparation of the athletes who will participate in the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. The delivery, made in the Juan Ulises García Saleta (Wiche) hall of the COD, consisted of a check for RD$178,150,000, received by the president of the organization, Garibaldy Bautista.

This fourth installment that we are delivering today to the Dominican Olympic Committee will serve for the preparation and the base of training for the Games and, above all, to hire the right coaches.

With this new allocation, the total amount invested by the Ministry of Sports amounts to RD$743,800,000. Cruz emphasized the importance of these resources to ensure adequate preparation and outstanding participation in the Games. He highlighted that the success of the event depends on the constant work of the federations and the financial support necessary for quality preparation. The minister underscored President Luis Abinader’s commitment to ensure the success of the Games. Cruz conveyed the presidential message to maintain focus and constant support for the athletes’ preparation, with the aim of being the best hosts and competitors in this edition. The minister also highlighted the fundamental role of the federations in achieving the objectives set, urging them to maintain determination and empowerment in each of them. This is the fourth installment of resources provided by Cruz, complying with the guidelines of President Abinader, to ensure optimal preparation of the athletes who will represent the country in the Games, to be held in Dominican territory. Previously, the Ministry had allocated RD$565,650,000 in three previous installments. The president of the COD, Garibaldy Bautista, thanked for the timely economic contribution. The vice ministers of Sports, Franklin De la Mota, Kennedy Vargas and Leopoldo Portes Soler, as well as members of the Executive Committee of the COD and the president of the Pan American Karate Federation, José García Mañón, were present at the event.
