Julio Rodríguez: Spectacular Steal and Rematch in Seattle!
Seattle – In a display of pure skill and determination, Julio Rodríguez, center fielder for the Mariners, shone with an anthology defensive play this Wednesday against the New York Yankees. The action left the fans present in the stadium breathless.
In the first inning, Rodríguez rose to rob Trent Grisham of a home run, denying him the chance to send the ball out of the park. The play, which according to Statcast, would have traveled 397 feet, was a clear demonstration of the Dominican’s defensive talent.
This catch not only meant the first out of the game, but also a kind of revenge for Rodriguez, who had seen Grisham hit a home run the previous Monday.
The outfielder ran 96 feet in just 6.5 seconds, diving backward and to his right to catch the ball over his left shoulder. The play was celebrated by the fans with a thunderous ovation.
