Jasson Domínguez, out with injury after spectacular catch

Dominican outfielder Jasson Domínguez suffered a left shoulder injury and will be out of action for several weeks. The incident occurred during Thursday’s game between the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers at Yankee Stadium. The mishap occurred on the first play of the match. Domínguez, after a quick run, made a catch to stop a hit by Brandon Nimmo, violently impacting the left field wall.

Domínguez remained on the field while being attended to by the medical staff and was then removed in a cart, receiving support from the fans. Following Dr. Chris Ahmad’s evaluation, a concussion was ruled out, but a low-grade acromioclavicular sprain in the left shoulder was confirmed.

The player will be out “a few weeks” while he recovers.

Aaron Boone, Yankees manager
Manager Aaron Boone had highlighted Domínguez’s defensive evolution before the incident, emphasizing his progress in training and his participation with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. After the injury, Amed Rosario moved from the infield to right field, and Cody Bellinger to left field, readjusting New York’s defense. In addition, the Yankees are preparing to promote prospect Spencer Jones from Triple-A. The outfielder, considered one of the organization’s talents, has 11 home runs, 41 RBIs, and an OPS of .958 in 33 games this season in the minor leagues. The possible arrival of Jones responds to the absence of Domínguez and the physical problems currently affecting several players on the team.
