San Francisco de Macorís – Los Gigantes del Cibao have announced the incorporation of outstanding players to reinforce their roster for the upcoming season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). Among the new members are pitchers Richard Rodríguez, Ronel Blanco and Enoli Paredes, as well as outfielder Aristides Aquino, who arrive as free agents. Richard Rodríguez, a 35-year-old reliever from Santiago, brings valuable experience to the team. In nine seasons in the Dominican league, Rodríguez has a 12-8 record with a 3.06 ERA in 138.1 innings pitched. In addition, he has 158 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.20, demonstrating his consistency and leadership from the bullpen. In his MLB career, Blanco has a record of 18-11, with an ERA of 3.45, 273 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 1.19 in 274 innings. A significant milestone in his career was in 2024, when he threw a no-hitter. In the LIDOM, Blanco has shown dominance with an 8-1 record and an impressive 0.96 ERA in six seasons, with 68 strikeouts in 56 innings and a 0.79 WHIP. Enoli Paredes, a 30-year-old right-handed pitcher from El Limón, Samaná, also joins the team. With four seasons of experience in the Major Leagues, Paredes has a 4-3 record with a 3.00 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 54 innings pitched. In Dominican baseball, Paredes has a 3-3 record with a 4.30 ERA in 54 innings, and 51 strikeouts. In terms of offense, the Giants add Aristides Aquino, a 31-year-old outfielder from Santo Domingo. Aquino stood out in the Major Leagues with the Cincinnati Reds, where he hit 41 home runs and drove in 108 runs, including a notable performance in 2019. Recently, Aquino also had a standout performance in the Mexican Baseball League, where he batted above .270, with 15 home runs and 50 RBIs in his last season. “We are adding important arms to our pitching staff and a power bat like Aquino’s for the offense. Our goal is to build a competitive team that can fight for the championship,” said the executive. With these acquisitions, the Gigantes del Cibao continue to strengthen their roster with the aim of competing for the title in the next LIDOM season.
