National Juvenile Baseball League Double A Opens
The Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedom) officially launched the first edition of the Double A National Youth Baseball League, in an event held at the IPL Academy complex and dedicated to former Major League player Nelson Cruz. The opening day was full of action, with the Go-Chiqui, Warriors de Santiago, Halcones del Sur, and Guerreros de Guerra teams obtaining victories. Go-Chiqui, representing Monseñor Nouel, defeated Titanes del Este with a score of 10-0, thanks to the outstanding performance of pitcher Ediel Ponce de la Rosa, who pitched seven innings, allowing only four hits and striking out nine batters. In other results, the Santiago Warriors defeated Dream Big from the National District 6-4, while the Southern Hawks prevailed 6-0 over Guardians of the East. The most contested match of the day saw the War Warriors defeat the Patriots of San Cristóbal with a score of 6-5.Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony included a parade led by flag bearers from the Dominican Republic Army and the First Brigade band, followed by the presentation of the eight participating teams.The sports oath was taken by Miguel Javier Grullón, from Guerreros de Guerra, while referee Richard Paulino was in charge of the officials’ commitment. The event was attended by important authorities, including the vice ministers Franklin de la Mota and Leopoldo Portes Soler, as well as leaders and personalities of national baseball. Nelson Cruz made the ceremonial pitch, with Portes Soler as the batter and De la Mota as the catcher.We want these talents to have a second chance and not abandon their dreams.
