Knicks Crush Hawks and Advance to Eastern Conference Semifinals
The New York Knicks secured their place in the Eastern Conference semifinals after a dominant victory over the Atlanta Hawks, with a final score of 140-89 in the sixth game of the series, held at the State Farm Arena.
The New York team demonstrated its superiority from the start, sealing the series with a score of 4-2. The difference in the score was only seven points away from equaling the largest recorded in the history of the NBA playoffs.
From the first half, the Knicks set the pace, establishing a 47-point lead (83-36) before halftime, setting a series record.
In the third quarter, the distance widened even further, reaching a maximum lead of 61 points, leaving the Hawks with no ability to respond to their fans.
OG Anunoby led the offense with 29 points, with 26 of them scored in the first half. Karl-Anthony Towns contributed a triple-double, adding 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.
With this victory, New York advances to the conference semifinals for the fourth consecutive time, keeping alive the hope of reaching the Finals for the first time since 1999. The Knicks’ next rival will come from the matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics, a series that the Celtics lead 3-2.
