In a tragic event that has shocked the world of football, Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother, 26, have lost their lives in a traffic accident in Spain.
The incident occurred in the early hours on the A52, near Cernadilla, Zamora.
According to sources from the investigation, the Portuguese brothers were traveling in a Lamborghini that, for reasons still under investigation, veered off the Rías Bajas highway (A52) at kilometer 65, in the direction of Benavente, around 00:40 hours.

In a press conference, the spokesman for the Board, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, expressed the community’s condolences to the family, the Portuguese national team, and Liverpool fans. Diogo José Teixeira da Silva, known as Diogo Jota, played for Atlético de Madrid in 2016 and subsequently for FC Porto until 2018, before joining the English league. Since 2020, he was part of Liverpool. His brother, André Felipe Silva, was also a footballer and played for Futebol Clube Penafiel, a team in the Portuguese second division.
