Cifre and Najri Shine at FIA Americas Awards: Dominican Motorsport Pride

Panama City, Panama –The 13th FIA Americas Awards Gala, held in a central city hotel last Saturday, January 31st, was the setting where drivers Luis Cifre Pellerano and Alfredo Najri were recognized for their achievements in the world of motorsports.The event, which was attended by more than 30 pilots and presidents of federations from countries across the American continent, highlighted the excellence of the athletes.

Awarding of Dominican Pilots

Luis Cifre, in the Karting discipline, and Alfredo Najri, in motorsports, received the award for the most outstanding drivers of 2025. The recognition was presented by the president of the Dominican Federation of Automobilism (FDA), Mr. Adriano Abreu Sued, who highlighted the outstanding performance of the Dominican drivers during the season.

“Undoubtedly, the work done by Luis Cifre winning the Jr. karting category and participating in the FIA Trophy Academy in Europe makes him deserving of such distinction, as well as Alfredito Najri who was crowned champion of the international V8 category in the GT Challenge championship, raised our flag high and it is a pride for us today to see him shine on this stage that honors the best drivers on the American continent during a complete season”,

The presentation of the Dominican pilots included an audiovisual that exhibited the beauty of the Dominican Republic, showing landscapes of the island and highlights of the pilots in competition, all accompanied by the music of Juan Luis Guerra.

Presence of Authorities and Motorsport Figures

The ceremony was attended by authorities from the International Automobile Federation (FIA) of the region, including Daniel Coen, Vice President of FIA North America, and Fabiana Flosi de Ecclestone, Vice President of FIA South America. Dante Pescetto, president of NACAM FIA, was also present, acting as host.Luis Cifre was accompanied by his father, Luis Alberto, while Abreu Sued received the trophy on behalf of Najri. The delegation shared with important figures of motorsport, including Nelson Piquet Jr. Aquiles J. Ramírez, director of communications of the FDA, was also part of the Dominican representation.

Parallel Activities and Future Perspectives

During the weekend, a welcome cocktail was offered to the presidents and delegates, getting to know the Old Town of the Panamanian capital and a tour of the Panama Racetrack.These meetings were used to dialogue with regional leaders about the unification of the area, proposing a technical regulatory integration to strengthen Karting and encourage the participation of drivers in each country, promoting sports tourism and development through sports exchange.
