Juan Soto Confirms his Participation in the 2026 World Baseball Classic

The Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedom) announced this Sunday the participation of the outstanding outfielder Juan Soto with the national team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. This will be the second time Soto represents the Dominican Republic in this prestigious international tournament.

Soto’s confirmation joins the growing list of Major League players who have expressed their desire to defend the tricolor jersey. The selection process for the Dominican roster continues to advance in preparation for the tournament, which will be held in March.

With the incorporation of Soto, the Dominican team strengthens its roster, which already has important figures in the pitching staff, including relievers Seranthony Domínguez and Carlos Estévez, as well as starters Sandy Alcántara, Cristopher Sánchez and Brayan Bello.

In the gardens, Soto Julio Rodríguez, Oneil Cruz, and Fernando Tatis Jr. are added. The infield will be composed of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Carlos Santana, catcher Yainer Díaz, and utility player Amed Rosario. This team is expected to combine offensive power, defensive solidity, and great depth.

The 2026 World Baseball Classic will take place from March 5 to 17. The Dominican Republic will compete in Group D, based at loanDepot park in Miami, along with Venezuela, Nicaragua, the Netherlands, and Israel.

The Dominican team will seek its second world title, after the undefeated victory in the 2013 edition.

The Dominican Republic team’s debut will be on March 6 against Nicaragua, at 7:00 PM (Eastern Time).
