Santo Domingo – Alexander Canario, outfielder for the Leones del Escogido, and Aaron Brooks, pitcher for the Toros del Este, have been recognized as the Most Valuable Players of the Week in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The evaluated period corresponds to December 8-15, in the 2025-2026 championship, dedicated to don Juan Marichal and in option to the Banreservas Cup. This is the second consecutive time and the third time this season that players from both franchises share the weekly top honor, highlighting the important role of Lions and Bulls in the tournament.

Alexander Canario: MVP by the Lions

Canario was chosen after obtaining 49 out of 83 votes (58.3%), surpassing Raimel Tapia from Estrellas Orientales and Héctor Rodríguez. During the week, the outfielder participated in four games, hitting three home runs, driving in seven runs, and stealing three bases. His offensive line was .385/.429/1.077/1.506.

Aaron Brooks: Mastery on the Mound

In the pitchers’ section, Aaron Brooks prevailed in a close vote against César Valdez, with 33 votes to 30. The Toros’ right-hander pitched 6.1 scoreless innings, establishing himself as a key piece of the Romanense pitching staff. This recognition represents the 18th award for the Toros del Este since the 2022-2023 season, demonstrating the club’s consistency in LIDOM’s weekly awards.
