Carlos Correa will miss the rest of the 2026 season after injury

Houston – Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa will require surgery on his left ankle, which will keep him off the field for the remainder of the 2026 season. This information was confirmed by sources close to MLB.com this Wednesday. The injury occurred while Correa was taking swings in the batting cage, prior to Tuesday’s game in which the Astros defeated the Dodgers 2-1 at Daikin Park. With a batting average of .279, three home runs, and 16 RBIs, Correa’s absence is significant both on the field and in the clubhouse. The Puerto Rican player has been a key piece in the team’s leadership since his return, becoming a reference for his teammates.

“Carlos is a cornerstone in this clubhouse. His leadership is fundamental to all of us,” expressed first baseman Christian Walker.

The absence of Correa complicates the situation for the Astros, who are already facing several important absences in their lineup. The team will have to reorganize its infield, with Isaac Paredes taking on a more prominent role. Correa’s injury adds to a complicated history in his career.
