LIDOM Dedicates 2026-2027 Championship to Héctor Rizek Llabaly
Santo Domingo – The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) has announced that the 2026-2027 autumn-winter baseball championship will be posthumously dedicated to Héctor Rizek Llabaly, a prominent businessman and founder of the Rizek Group, who recently passed away. The decision, made unanimously by the league’s Board of Directors, is a tribute to Rizek Llabaly’s outstanding career, business legacy, and constant support for the development of sports in the nation.Vitelio Mejía Ortiz, president of LIDOM, highlighted the significant impact of Rizek Llabaly on Dominican society, emphasizing both his human qualities and his firm commitment to the country’s progress. LIDOM emphasized that this recognition aims to preserve the legacy of a key figure in the business world, whose influence was also fundamental to the promotion of sports and national development. This way, the next winter tournament will not only celebrate baseball, but also the life and contributions of a reference in Dominican society.With this dedication, we honor the memory of a man whose vision, integrity, and vocation for service left a deep mark.
