SANTIAGO – Las Águilas Cibaeñas reinforce their roster with the arrival of Mexican infielder Juan Carlos “Harper” Gamboa, a standout defender from Latin American baseball.
The main objective is to strengthen the team’s defense and alignment for the final phase of the Round Robin.
A Golden Glove for the Eagles
Gamboa joins the Águilas after an outstanding season in the Mexican Baseball League (LMB) with the Diablos Rojos del México. There he was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year 2025, thanks to his impressive fielding factor of .993, one of the highest in the league.
Versatility and Power at the Plate
Gamboa is a versatile player who can play in several positions in the infield, including shortstop, second base, and third base. In addition to his exceptional defense, he brings a powerful left-handed bat.
In 2025, Gamboa recorded a batting average of .376, hit 10 home runs, and drove in 52 runs in 68 games with the Diablos Rojos.
In the Mexican Pacific League (LMP), playing for the Yaquis de Obregón, Gamboa also demonstrated his offensive ability, batting .276 and driving in 15 runs.
A Key Reinforcement for the Round Robin
The Eagles’ Baseball Operations Management has indicated that the hiring of Gamboa seeks to bring greater stability to the infield and depth to the offense, especially in the remaining five crucial games of the Round Robin.
