The municipality of Villa Bisonó, popularly known as Navarrete, is experiencing moments of high tension following a series of raids carried out by National Police agents. These interventions, conducted during the early hours of this Wednesday, have the primary objective of identifying and capturing those responsible for the violent acts that occurred during the 48-hour strike that has affected the area.

The authorities have stepped up security in the sector following the incident recorded during the inspection tour by the institution’s director general, Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, who was the target of a shooting while he was assessing the public order situation in the municipality.

Popular leaders reject links to violence

During the operations, law enforcement forces raided the residences of various social leaders. Faced with this situation, local figures have raised their voices to distance themselves from the acts of vandalism and the clashes reported during the strike.

They know what one does for a living, what one does, and what one supports oneself with. There was no reason for this to happen.

Onésimo Gómez, a popular leader known as Picoco.

Along the same lines, leader Martín Hernández categorically rejected the accusations linking him to the disturbances that took place during the high-ranking police official’s visit to the municipality.
