Camron Jones will bring Tupac Shakur to life in Snoop Dogg’s highly anticipated biopic

The cinematic universe dedicated to hip-hop continues to expand. It was recently confirmed that actor Camron Jones, known for his work in the series Panic, has been selected to play the legendary Tupac Shakur in the new biographical film about the life of Snoop Dogg, a project that will be directed by filmmaker Craig Brewer under the Universal Pictures label.

This high-profile cast will be led by Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss, who will take on the lead role to portray Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., known worldwide as Snoop Dogg. The cast also features the confirmed participation of Myles Bullock in the role of Dr. Dre and Lauren London, who will play the mother of the iconic rapper from Long Beach.

A story about the history of West Coast Rap

The production aims to narrate Snoop Dogg’s meteoric rise during the 90s, a period in which he became one of the most influential figures of gangsta rap on the West Coast of the United States. Throughout this journey, the narrative will place special emphasis on the complex relationship he maintained with Tupac Shakur.

The film will explore the brotherhood and musical collaboration between both artists at Death Row Records, as well as the definitive rift that marked their lives before Shakur’s tragic end in 1996.

The plot will address the deterioration of their friendship, triggered when Tupac interpreted as a betrayal Snoop Dogg’s statements in a radio interview, where the latter showed respect for East Coast artists, who maintained a strong rivalry with the Death Row label. Unfortunately, this personal conflict could not be resolved before Shakur’s murder in Las Vegas.
