Incident at the National Palace: Journalists removed during coverage of the National Council of the Magistracy
Moments of tension were experienced this Friday at the Government House when a group of journalists, duly accredited to cover the meeting of the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM), were forced to leave the premises by the presidential security corps.
The communicators, who were waiting for the formal start of the meeting, received the surprise instruction to vacate the premises. According to the security agents, neither access to the meeting nor the presence of the media in the area to collect subsequent statements on the agreements reached would be permitted.
Restrictions on official coverage
The measure, which took communication professionals by surprise, included escorting reporters to the exit gate of the National Palace. Given the situation, security members indicated that any relevant information regarding the topics discussed and decisions made would be channeled exclusively through the Presidential Press Office.
The journalists who arrived with their official credentials to report on this important political event remain on standby, awaiting the official statements that the authorities promised to release after the conclusion of the CNM meeting.
