Mourning in the PRM: Leader Rafael Pimentel passes away
The Dominican political sphere is in mourning following the passing of Rafael Pimentel Pimentel, a prominent leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and former director of the National Institute for Teacher Welfare (Inabima). The news was confirmed this Friday, causing consternation in the Peravia province and throughout the ruling party’s structure.
Pimentel, who also served as the municipal president of the PRM in Baní, lost his life at his residence. His career was characterized by a close connection with the party’s grassroots and constant work in favor of the communities of his native province.
A legacy of public service
The political leader maintained a notable management at the head of Inabima until February 2026, the date on which he decided to resign from the position for health reasons. During his tenure, he focused on strengthening welfare programs aimed at teachers in the national education system.

With his passing, the ruling party loses a figure who not only held positions of administrative relevance, but was also a fundamental pillar in the consolidation of institutional leadership in the southern region of the country.
