Blow to micro-trafficking: DNCD seizes more than 10 kilos of drugs in the National District
In a coordinated offensive against the trafficking of prohibited substances, agents from the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and representatives of the Public Ministry carried out a series of strategic operations in various sectors of the National District. The action resulted in the arrest of 15 individuals and the seizure of more than 10,000 grams of narcotics.
The operation, which included seven court-authorized raids and 68 field operations, impacted critical points in areas such as Villa Agrícolas, Los Girasoles, San Carlos, Los Guandules, Ciudad Nueva, La Zurza, Guachupita, and various areas of Los Kilómetros, among other sectors intervened to dismantle local distribution networks.
Seizure results
The balance of the seizures reflects a hard blow to micro-trafficking operations in the capital. The details of the confiscated substances are as follows:
- Cocaine: 457 portions of a white powder with a total weight of 9,624.70 grams were removed from the streets.
- Marijuana: 125 portions of a green vegetable matter were seized, weighing approximately 759.60 grams.
In total, the amount of illicit substances removed from circulation amounts to 10,384.30 grams, preventing their distribution in the intervened neighborhoods.
Seized evidence
In addition to the narcotics, the operational teams managed to secure various items linked to the illicit activities of the dismantled networks:
- Weaponry: A blank-firing pistol, two homemade weapons, and a bulletproof vest.
- Ammunition: Nine 9-millimeter caliber casings.
- Technical equipment: Two precision scales, six cell phones, and two communication radios.
- Cash: RD$15,300 and US$2.
The authorities have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to continue these operational actions to neutralize drug sales points and strengthen citizen security throughout the national territory.
All seized material has been processed under strict chain of custody and delivered to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The 15 detainees will be presented before a judge in the coming hours to face the corresponding coercive measures, on charges of violating Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances.
