UASD Student Residence strengthened with significant donation from PROPEEP
The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) received significant support from the General Directorate of Strategic and Special Projects of the Presidency (PROPEEP), through the delivery of supplies intended to equip the academy’s Student Residence. This initiative seeks to improve the living conditions of meritorious students who come from various provinces of the country.
The university rector, Jorge Asjana David, expressed his gratitude for the constant support of President Luis Abinader and highlighted the work carried out by Robert Polanco Tejada, director of PROPEEP. The rector emphasized that the government’s commitment has been fundamental in advancing the goal of turning the institution into a more inclusive and efficient space.
To make the university truly inclusive, we must guarantee the most vulnerable students from the interior housing, food, quality education, and the necessary academic and sports equipment.

A commitment to student well-being
Robert Polanco, who has a historical connection to the institution having been part of the Dominican Students Federation (FED), reaffirmed his personal and professional commitment to the university. Polanco indicated that this delivery is only a first stage, with the promise to continue providing the residence with the necessary elements to ensure the well-being of the young people.
The donation received by the university includes a wide variety of essential items for the daily lives of the residents:
- 50 beds and 25 plastic dining sets.
- 12 refrigerators, 10 washing machines, and 12 microwaves.
- 10 common-use stoves and 25 fans.
- Equipment for common areas, including furniture and televisions.
- Specialized items for beauty salons.
Infrastructure and support for those affected
The Student Residence has modern facilities, including administrative areas, gender-segregated rooms, a library, a dining hall, and a laundry room. In addition, the rector reported that the tower has served as a shelter for ten students who lost their belongings in a recent fire that occurred in the vicinity of the Santo Domingo Metro.
Cintia Drullard Rodríguez, Director of Student Welfare, emphasized that the administration works tirelessly to meet the students’ demands, ensuring they have the necessary tools to achieve their academic goals. For her part, student Brígida del Rosario Rodríguez, representing the beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude and reaffirmed the student body’s commitment to educational excellence.
