“Ratón” captured after lottery bank robberies in Monte Plata
The Santo Domingo Norte Regional Directorate of the National Police reported the arrest of Israel Torres Martínez, known in the criminal world as “Ratón” (Mouse). The 28-year-old individual was caught in flagrante delicto while attempting to evade a police patrol in the Primavera sector, in the community of La Victoria.
The operation originated following a police pursuit stemming from a robbery committed by breaking into a lottery booth, located on the main street of the El Laurel area, in the province of Monte Plata. According to the official report, the arrested individual did not act alone; authorities are working on identifying two other accomplices who participated in the incident and in other similar robberies in the same area.
A criminal record under scrutiny
Torres Martínez was a priority target for security forces, as he was subject to arrest warrant number 2026-AJ0074466, linked to multiple reports of robberies and armed assaults. At the time of his capture, officers managed to recover and seize the following items:
- RD$22,300 in cash, presumably stolen from commercial establishments.
- A red Suzuki AX-100 motorcycle, license plate K2130262, which had been reported stolen from a residence.
Authorities are actively searching for two fugitives identified as alleged members of this criminal structure. These individuals have been captured on surveillance cameras committing crimes in the municipal district of Don Juan.
The detainee has been transferred to the appropriate facilities to be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, where he will have to answer to the charges filed against him. Meanwhile, the National Police continues its investigations to completely dismantle the gang dedicated to robbing lottery kiosks in the region.
