During the event, the president highlighted the significant progress achieved by the General Directorate of Public Procurement (DGCP) in its management, consolidating a more agile and transparent model.
The head of State stressed that the transformations implemented have allowed for the democratization of access to state procurement, achieving an increase of nearly 25% in the number of suppliers currently providing services to the Government.
The DGCP in this period has had a spectacular transformation. A transformation that has helped to improve efficiency, transparency and has democratized, and now with this system, this software even more, it has democratized purchasing.

Technological innovation with a Dominican stamp
One of the key points of the announcement was the recognition of national talent. EFICOMPRAS was developed entirely by Dominican engineers, a fact that, according to the president, demonstrates the country’s ability to lead in strategic areas through will and perseverance. In this regard, he announced that the Government will proceed to patent the software as a recognition of the intellectual property and the effort of the technical team.
Among the benefits highlighted by the president are:
- Hospital optimization: The platform will allow hospitals to make minor purchases with greater speed and efficiency, guaranteeing the saving of public resources.
- Regional positioning: The Dominican Republic has gone from being a recipient of technical advice to becoming a benchmark that provides support to other nations in matters of public procurement.
- Transparency: The system reduces delivery times and strengthens the oversight of minor procurement processes.
Finally, Abinader extended his congratulations to the Director General of Public Procurement, Carlos Pimentel Florenzán, and all the technical staff involved, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the modernization of the Dominican State and the proper management of all citizens’ resources.
