FEDOM boosts the future of Dominican baseball with a historic development plan

The Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM) has marked a milestone in its institutional management by approving the Baseball Development Plan in the Dominican Republic. This ambitious initiative will be financed directly with the funds obtained by the country following its outstanding participation in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, seeking to boost the growth of this discipline in every corner of the national territory.

The General Assembly, where the agreement was made official, was attended by key figures of international baseball, including representatives from World Baseball Classic Inc., MLBPA, MLB, as well as the general manager of the 2026 World Baseball Classic Dominican team, Nelson Cruz, and executives from Grupo de Medios Panorama.

A strategic investment for national talent

Juan Núñez, president of FEDOM, described this approval as a turning point for the sport. According to Núñez, the main objective is to strengthen provincial and National District associations, ensuring that resources are transformed into real opportunities for players, coaches, and clubs.

We are very pleased with the approval of this plan, as it represents a direct investment in the future of Dominican baseball, and its funding will come from the prize money obtained by the country based on the collective effort of our national team in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

Financial measures and work commissions

To ensure the sustainability of the project, the Assembly adopted fundamental financial and administrative measures:

  • Establishment of a one-million-dollar fixed-term deposit for two years, intended to generate interest to expand the scope of the plan.
  • Creation of an evaluation committee in charge of supervising and approving the projects submitted by provincial associations and managing disbursements.
  • Establishment of a National Organization Commission to execute the registration of athletes and formalize the structure of leagues and clubs within a period of one year.

Institutional strengthening

During the day, FEDOM also ratified the eight-year extension of its agreement with Grupo de Medios Panorama, authorized the acquisition of a physical headquarters in Santo Domingo, and validated the calendar of national and international tournaments. With these actions, the federation reaffirms its commitment to the development of new talent and the consolidation of its organizational structure throughout the country.
