Caribbean Series expands: DR and Puerto Rico will be hosts in 2027
The Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CBPC) has announced a historic transformation for the year 2027. For the first time, the Caribbean Series brand will integrate three high-level competitions under one banner: the 69th edition of the Caribbean Series of League Champions, the fourth installment of the Caribbean Kids Series, and the official debut of the Caribbean Teens Series.
This decision, ratified by the CBPC Assembly during an extraordinary session, seeks to consolidate the development of baseball in the region, extending the tradition that began in 1949 to new generations of athletes.
Confirmed venues for the new era
As part of this ambitious expansion, the Dominican Republic has been selected as the official host of the IV Caribbean Kids Series. On the other hand, Puerto Rico will take on the challenge of organizing the first edition of the Caribbean Teens Series, marking a milestone in the organization’s history by including young people at a more advanced stage of their sports training.
The integration of the Kids and Teens categories allows the Caribbean Series to transcend the professional sphere, becoming a comprehensive platform for promoting baseball from an early age.
The success of the youth categories
- Serie del Caribe Kids: It has experienced exponential growth following its editions in Panama (2024), Venezuela (2025), and Nayarit (2026).
- Historical records: In the last edition in Nayarit, Dominican player Isaac Brito set a precedent with three home runs and seven RBIs in a single game.
- Milestones on the diamond: The competition already features a perfect game, courtesy of Panamanian Alams Rodríguez, and a combined no-hitter.
The CBPC is already working on a rotation plan for future host cities, ensuring that all member countries have the opportunity to host these events, thus fostering equity and the development of young talent throughout the Caribbean.
With this structure, regional baseball reaffirms its commitment to the future, ensuring that the passion for the game remains alive through its three pillars: League Champions, Kids, and Teens.
