Omayra Aybar will lead the Dominican delegation at the 2026 World Chess Olympiad
National Chess Master, Omayra Aybar, has been appointed as head of the delegation that will represent the Dominican Republic at the 46th World Chess Olympiad, which will be hosted in the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Aybar will be responsible for coordinating and accompanying the athletes during this prestigious international meeting of the sport of chess.
The Dominican team will have representation in both the Open and Women’s categories. In total, ten chess players, divided into groups of five per team, will be in charge of testing their strength against world powers and federations from various countries, seeking to hold the tricolor flag high.

The presence of the players in Uzbekistan not only represents a source of national pride, but also acts as a driver for professional development. Participation in this event allows the athletes to:
