Hospital modernization: Nuestra Señora de Regla Hospital receives state-of-the-art CT scanner

The National Health Service (SNS) has taken a decisive step in strengthening medical care in the Southern region with the delivery of a modern CT scanner to the Nuestra Señora de Regla Provincial Hospital, located in Baní. This high-tech equipment, featuring 128 slices, marks a milestone for the healthcare center as it is the first time it has had its own tomography service.

Dr. Julio César Landrón, executive director of the SNS, highlighted that the incorporation of this technology with artificial intelligence and helical imaging systems will allow for three-dimensional diagnostics with superior precision. Furthermore, the equipment stands out for its ability to reduce radiation exposure by up to 80%, providing greater safety for patients, especially in pediatric cases and long-term follow-up treatments.

It constitutes a transcendental step for the Southern region, the provinces of Peravia, Azua, Ocoa and the entire surrounding area, to have a state-of-the-art CT scanner in the middle of that great highway.

Social impact and efficiency in the Public Network

During the delivery, the head of the SNS highlighted the importance of democratizing access to healthcare. As he pointed out, the Public Network has managed to transform the landscape for citizens, who previously had to incur catastrophic expenses to pay for specialized studies. Currently, these services are offered free of charge, easing the economic burden on Dominican families.

Likewise, Dr. Landrón highlighted the administrative management of the hospital director, Dr. José Lara Brea, emphasizing that a large portion of the hospitals in the network have managed to operate with sound finances and resources available to attend to emergencies promptly.
