Blow to crime: DICRIM dismantles criminal gangs in Greater Santo Domingo
In a series of strategic and simultaneous operations, agents from the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM) managed to dismantle various criminal structures operating in different key points of Greater Santo Domingo. These actions, executed by the Department of Investigations of Crimes and Offenses Against Property, seek to strengthen citizen security and curb illicit activities in the capital.
Details of the operations and captures
The interventions were carried out in a coordinated manner in sectors such as Villa Juana, Villa Consuelo, Villas Agrícolas, Capotillo, Los Ríos, Los Peralejos, and areas surrounding kilometer 13 of the Duarte Highway. As a result of these deployments, the authorities managed to arrest two men identified as Dany Carlos Méndez, known as Aboyao, and Antonio Yina, nicknamed the Venezuelan.
Seized evidence
During the searches, the agents seized a significant amount of items linked to criminal activities, among which the following stand out:
- A .38 caliber revolver with filed-off serial numbers and five casings.
- 13 slot machines.
- Six electronic scales.
- Three communication radios.
- Various portions of illicit substances, including marijuana, crack, and molly.
- Bladed weapons and vehicle accessories of dubious origin.
- Eight doors dismantled from intervened infrastructures.
Ongoing research
The authorities reported that these operations are also related to a violent incident that occurred in Ensanche Capotillo, where Sonali Daniel García, 26, and Leandro Álvarez Luis, 21, were wounded by gunfire. The National Police is maintaining an active search to locate other individuals identified as alleged perpetrators of this event.
The recovered firearm has been sent to the Scientific Police laboratories to perform the corresponding ballistic analyses, while the detainees and all seized items were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for due legal process.
