Health crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo: 143 dead from unknown disease
The Kwango province, located in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is going through a critical situation following the report of 143 deaths registered during the month of November due to a disease that has not yet been identified by local authorities.
According to reports provided by Remi Saki, deputy governor of the region, and the provincial Minister of Health, Apollinaire Yumba, the affected patients present a clinical picture characterized by flu-like symptoms, highlighting the presence of high fever and intense headaches. Epidemiology specialists have pointed out that the most vulnerable population to this outbreak are children and women.
Difficulties in accessing medical care
The situation in the Panzi health zone is becoming increasingly alarming. According to Cephorien Manzanza, a representative of civil society, the number of infections continues to rise, causing widespread concern in the community. The geographical location of Panzi, being a rural area with difficult access, severely complicates the logistics of medical supplies, causing many patients to die in their homes as they are unable to receive proper treatment.

Given this situation, medical teams have been deployed in the region to collect biological samples to determine the nature of the pathogen.
