Progressive Student Movement promotes ecological awareness at the UASD with Environmental Fair

With the goal of fostering sustainable habits and strengthening the commitment to the protection of the natural environment, the Progressive Student Movement (MEP) successfully held the MEP Environmental Fair. The event, held this Thursday at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), served as a platform to mobilize the university community toward concrete actions in favor of the planet.

The day extended from 10:00 in the morning until 6:00 in the afternoon in front of the High Technology Building, where students and teachers actively participated in educational activities designed to promote sustainability.

Educational stations and hands-on learning

The fair featured various thematic spaces oriented towards environmental awareness:

  • Recycling Station (The 3Rs): Focused on reduction, reuse, and recycling through practical sorting exercises.
  • “Every Drop Counts” Station: Space dedicated to responsible water management and waste prevention.
  • Ecosystems Station: Highlighted the vital role of biodiversity in ecological balance.
  • Climate Change Station: Analyzed the causes and consequences of this global issue, promoting sustainable solutions.
  • Eco-friendly photo spots: Recreational areas to encourage the dissemination of the environmental message.

Solidarity and social commitment

One of the highlights of the activity was the integration of the “Tapitas x Quimio” (Bottle Caps for Chemo) cause. This stand allowed the university community to donate plastic bottle caps to support the treatment of children fighting cancer.

Small actions can generate a positive impact both on the environment and on the lives of people who need support.

Progressive Student Movement

At the end of the day, the organizers thanked everyone for the massive participation, highlighting that environmental education and solidarity are fundamental pillars for the development of a more committed society. This initiative reaffirms the MEP’s stance in its work to promote collective well-being and active student participation in issues of social and ecological relevance.
