“El Chino”, alleged leader of criminal network, captured in Santiago

In a strategic operation, agents from the Central Directorate of Investigations (DICRIM) managed to capture Wandy Pimentel, identified in the underworld as “El Chino” or “El Japonés.” The detainee is pointed out by authorities as the alleged leader of a dangerous criminal structure that extended its criminal operations across various sectors of the Santiago province.

According to preliminary investigation reports, Pimentel is linked to an organized crime network involved in high-risk activities, most notably contract killing, kidnapping, and the illicit trafficking of controlled substances. Authorities have placed special emphasis on his role within the structure, considering him a key figure in the operation of these crimes in the northern part of the country.

Micro-trafficking control in the southern zone

One of the central points of the investigation points towards the control that Pimentel exercised over micro-trafficking operations. Specifically, he is held responsible for maintaining dominance over drug sales in the Los Jazmines sector, located in the southern area of Santiago. In this district, the detainee allegedly exerted a strong influence, coordinating the distribution of prohibited substances.

Pimentel’s arrest comes after a series of public complaints made by communicator Ramón Tolentino, who had been pointing out the illicit activities operating under his command in the region.

With this arrest, Alofoke Deportes follows up on the efforts of law enforcement to dismantle the gangs affecting public safety in Santiago. It is expected that in the coming hours, the Public Prosecutor’s Office will present the corresponding evidence before a judge to proceed with the pertinent coercive measures.
