Weather forecast: Indomet warns of downpours and thunderstorms for this Tuesday
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued a detailed report on the weather conditions expected for this Tuesday in the national territory. The incidence of a trough, added to the prevailing humidity, will cause scattered downpours, thunderstorms, and wind gusts in various provinces, with greater intensity during the afternoon.
From the early hours of the morning, local rainfall and electrical activity are expected in areas of the Caribbean coast, with special attention in Greater Santo Domingo. Meanwhile, the rest of the country will maintain skies with little cloud cover until daytime heating and orographic effects favor cloud development toward the interior.
Provinces under surveillance for rain
For the afternoon and early evening hours, the weather outlook indicates an increase in cloudiness that will bring moderate to heavy downpours to the following areas:
- Hato Mayor and El Seibo
- Monte Plata
- Monseñor Nouel and La Vega
- Santiago (southern sector)
- Santiago Rodríguez
- Elías Piña and northern San Juan
- Independencia
Despite the start of the astronomical autumn in the northern hemisphere, the Dominican Republic maintains a humid and hot environment with a high heat index. The population is advised to stay hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Conditions in Greater Santo Domingo
The forecast for the National District anticipates a morning with partly cloudy skies, accompanied by showers and thunderstorms. In North Santo Domingo, cloud increases are expected, while in West Santo Domingo, morning downpours are expected. For its part, East Santo Domingo will present occasional increases in clouds, giving way to a hot afternoon with scattered clouds throughout the metropolitan area.
Tropical activity monitoring
Internationally, Indomet continues to monitor Tropical Storm Fay, located about 920 kilometers southwest of the Azores Islands. Due to its trajectory and distance, this phenomenon poses no danger to the Dominican Republic.
Additionally, a tropical wave emerging from the coast of Africa is being monitored. Although the system has a low probability of cyclonic development, currently at 30% over the next seven days, meteorological authorities continue to evaluate its evolution and potential movement across the Atlantic.
