Renowned actress Maribel Guardia has filed a formal complaint with the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office against Imelda Tuñón, the widow of her late son, Julián Figueroa. This action comes as a direct response to recent confessions made by Tuñón regarding the acquisition and supply of controlled medications to the singer before his passing.

The conflict intensified after Tuñón’s participation in the “Mesa Cero” podcast, where she revealed that she deceived her psychiatrist to obtain drugs that she subsequently gave to Julián Figueroa to treat his anxiety and insomnia problems, even though the artist’s specialists had previously denied them to him.

What is Maribel Guardia’s defense seeking?

Lawyer Alfonso Beceiro, who represents the actress, has pointed out that the main objective of this lawsuit is for the authorities to investigate the possible illicit acquisition and distribution of controlled substances. Likewise, the defense has proposed that a possible criminal liability linked to the young artist’s death be explored.

This legal action corresponds to a hypothesis raised by the defense and does not imply, as of yet, that the authorities have determined a direct link between the medications supplied and the death of Julián Figueroa.

According to legal documents filed on September 24, Maribel Guardia is appearing in the proceedings as an indirect victim and the aggrieved party. The complaint also extends to any other person who may be found responsible in the investigation.

Case background

  • Julián Figueroa lost his life on April 9, 2023, at the age of 27.
  • The official medical report determined that the cause of death was an acute myocardial infarction.
  • This complaint marks a new chapter in the tense family and legal relationship that both figures have maintained since the singer’s passing.

Alofoke Deportes will continue to follow up on this case as new updates emerge from the capital’s authorities.
