High-ranking officers recognized as Adoptive and Meritorious Sons in La Vega
The La Vega City Council formalized the delivery of the titles of Adoptive and Meritorious Sons to General Juan Pablo Ferreira Verás and Colonel Rafael Guillermo Guzmán Chomalí. This recognition was granted in honor of the outstanding work and significant contributions made by both officers during their tenure at the head of the National Police in this province.
The distinction, unanimously approved by the City Council, was supported by the mayor, the vice-mayor, and the council members, in response to a formal request from various sectors of La Vega society. The provincial Governor’s Office, the Federation of Community Leaders, and the Chamber of Commerce joined the tribute, highlighting the positive impact of the officers on the safety and well-being of the community.
Commitment to the vegan community
During the main event, Mayor Amparo Custodio delivered an emotional speech in which she highlighted the values, commitment, and integrity that define the careers of both officers. Custodio emphasized the close bond and affection that both Ferreira Verás and Guzmán Chomalí have shown toward the province, elements that were key to granting them these honorary titles.

- Retired Major General Guillermo Guzmán Fermín, former Director General of the National Police.
- Luisa Jiménez, Governor of La Vega province.
- Aura Luz García, Chief Prosecutor.
- Engineer Hernán Despradel, Director of the Emergency Operations Center (COE) in La Vega.
- Representatives of military institutions, community leaders, and various special guests.
The event began with a religious invocation by Father Rafael Delgado (Chelo), followed by welcoming remarks from Vice Mayor Amado Gómez, who praised the joint effort of social sectors to make this tribute a reality for those who have served the province of La Vega with honor and dedication.
