Wilmer Figuereo urges prioritizing support for youth in vulnerable sectors

In the framework of the commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity, engineer Wilmer A. Figuereo, president of the Youth for My Neighborhood Foundation, called on all of Dominican society to intensify support for the most needy sectors of the country. His message focused on the urgency of focusing efforts on the well-being of children and youth as fundamental pillars for national progress.

Figuereo emphasized that solidarity should not be limited to words, but translated into tangible actions that transform the quality of life in communities. According to the executive, the creation of real opportunities is the most effective way to ensure that new generations can overcome social barriers and reach their full potential.

Young people deserve opportunities. They are the future of the Dominican Republic and we must think about them, support them, and create the necessary conditions so that they can develop their capabilities and achieve their goals.

A call for national unity

The president of the foundation stressed that the country’s development depends directly on the investment and support provided to vulnerable sectors. In this regard, he extended an invitation to various sectors of public and private life:

  • State institutions.
  • Private sector companies.
  • Civil society organizations.
  • General public.

The goal is to unite efforts to strengthen education, community development, and social assistance programs that directly impact families facing the greatest economic challenges.

Finally, the Youth for My Neighborhood Foundation reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to continue executing social initiatives. Figuereo concluded by highlighting the multiplier effect of these actions: by providing support to an individual or family in a vulnerable situation, one is directly contributing to the construction of a more equitable, prosperous, and supportive Dominican Republic for all.
