Dominican pitcher Luis Castillo put on a display of absolute dominance in his second appearance in a Chicago White Sox uniform, serving as the key piece in a 5-0 shutout victory against the Cincinnati Reds. Castillo was untouchable over seven innings of work, allowing just one hit and striking out 10 batters.
After a complicated debut last week against Boston, where he allowed five runs, the right-hander managed to adjust his command to match his longest outing of the current season. With this performance, the Venezuelan pitcher achieved his first win with his new team, bringing his personal record to 4-9.
An almost perfect dominance against his former team
Castillo’s only moment of vulnerability occurred in the first inning, when he gave up a single to Sal Stewart. From that moment on, the pitcher took total control of the game, allowing just two walks for the rest of his outing. It is curious that this outstanding performance came precisely against Cincinnati, the organization that gave him the opportunity to debut in the Major Leagues in 2017.
