The outstanding Dominican sprinter Liranyi Alonso has reaffirmed her dominance on international tracks after a brilliant performance at the 2026 Muscat Grand Prix, held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Oman. The tricolor athlete managed to reach the podium on two occasions, consolidating her position as one of the most promising and consistent figures in sprinting at a global level.
In the marquee event of the 100-meter dash, Alonso claimed the gold medal by crossing the finish line with a time of 11.14 seconds. This record is particularly impressive, considering it was achieved under a headwind condition of -0.4 m/s. The Dominican athlete surpassed Verónica Pereira, from Singapore, who clocked 11.36 seconds, and the Qatari Dana Salem, who completed the podium with 11.54 seconds.
