Dominican Republic aspires to host the 2027 Kids Caribbean Series
The Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) has taken a firm step in its commitment to the development of young talent by formally requesting the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CBPC) to host the Kids Caribbean Series for the year 2027. If finalized, this would be the first time the country hosts this prestigious international event dedicated to youth categories.
The announcement was made official by Pavel Aguiló, general manager of the Dominican team, on behalf of the league president, Vitelio Mejía Ortiz. As reported, the main objective is for future baseball stars to experience the thrill of competing on their own soil, backed by the fervor of the local fan base.
This event has already grown up. We went from wearing shorts to wearing Bermuda shorts last year, and this year we put on long pants, and it is time for us to say that the Dominican Republic is present.

Ready for the challenge
Aguiló emphasized that the country’s sports infrastructure and organizational capacity are fully capable of taking on this commitment. LIDOM seeks to work jointly with all its franchises to guarantee a high-level spectacle that honors the nation’s baseball tradition.
- The Kids Caribbean Series has had previous editions in venues such as Panama and Nayarit, Mexico.
- The tournament seeks to foster the growth and projection of developing baseball players at a regional level.
- LIDOM highlights the success achieved by the Mexico Green team, Jaguares de Nayarit, in the most recent edition.
The executive stressed that, beyond logistics, the main driver of this initiative is the Dominican fan, whose passion is a key component for the success of any sporting event in the country. With this request, the Dominican Republic reaffirms its commitment to the future of baseball and its desire to become the epicenter of Caribbean youth talent in 2027.
