LIDOM announces technological modernization for the 2026-27 season

The Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) is preparing to raise the level of its upcoming 2026-27 season through the integration of advanced technological tools. With the goal of optimizing operational management and enriching the experience for winter baseball fans, the league has confirmed a series of key innovations.

Vitelio Mejía, president of LIDOM, highlighted that modernization efforts include the launch of the official “Lidom 1.0” application, the implementation of an automated system for roster management, and the long-awaited arrival of the Automated Balls and Strikes (ABS) system.

New official application for the fan

Starting November 15, fans will be able to download the new mobile application from the App Store and Google Play digital stores. This platform will centralize all tournament information, offering:

  • Real-time scores and results.
  • Detailed match schedule.
  • Updated statistics, batting and pitching leaders.
  • Play-by-play tracking and player profiles.

These new features will make life easier, and enhance the enjoyment and pleasure of the fans of our game.

Innovation in rosters and arbitration

In the administrative sphere, LIDOM will debut an automated roster system designed to ensure transparency and efficiency. This tool will instantly validate player eligibility, automatically rejecting any registration that does not comply with current regulations, thus eliminating human error in the registration processes.

On the other hand, the implementation of the Automated Ball-Strike System (ABS), supported by Hawk-Eye technology, will introduce a challenge scheme. Each team will have two initial challenges per game, maintaining the opportunity to challenge decisions if the claim is successful, with the possibility of adding an additional challenge upon reaching extra innings.

Regarding this change, Mejía emphasized that, although the current level of refereeing is positive, the integration of this technology seeks to reach higher standards of precision on the field of play.

Stadium preparations

To ensure the proper functioning of the ABS system, Major League experts will conduct technical evaluations at the Julián Javier and Francisco Micheli stadiums. These adjustments are vital to adapt the infrastructure of the ballparks to the technological demands of the new era of Dominican baseball.

The 2026-27 season is scheduled to begin on October 16, with a three-game opening day that will mark the start of a campaign focused on innovation and service to the fans.
