Gigantes del Cibao begin training for the LIDOM season
The Gigantes del Cibao took the initial step on their path toward conquering the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) championship. With a total of 42 players present, the San Francisco de Macorís team inaugurated their official training at the Julián Javier Stadium, marking the formal start of their preparation for the upcoming season.
The first day stood out for a balanced mix between established figures of winter baseball and young prospects looking to establish themselves in the professional circuit. Among the veterans who reported from the first day are heavy hitters such as Leury García, Carlos Peguero, Carlos Franco, Kelvin Gutiérrez, Bryan Rodríguez, Emilio Vargas, and the stellar reliever Richard Rodríguez.
A coaching staff focused on success
The practices were coordinated by coach Adrián Texidor, who assumes leadership of the group on an interim basis. Texidor will be in charge of field operations until the arrival of manager Miguel Cairo, who is currently fulfilling his professional responsibilities with the Baltimore Orioles in Major League Baseball.
The general management, led by Jaylon Pimentel, highlighted the importance of having such a large turnout from the first call, underscoring the players’ commitment to the organization and the common goal of achieving glory in LIDOM.

The pitching staff was the most numerous in this opening, with a total of 25 pitchers working under the supervision of the team of trainers and coaches. Among the standout arms are figures such as Hansel Robles, Harol González, and Carlos Espinal, in addition to several invitees looking for a spot on the final roster.
On the other hand, the 17 position players who were present included talents such as Gilberto Jiménez, Manuel Beltré, and Juan Mateo, the latter recently selected by the organization in the LIDOM Rookie Draft. The presence of this mixed group is seen by the administration as a vital step to consolidate the team’s depth before the start of the tournament.
The welcome ceremony featured the participation of Yissel Infante, the team administrator, and Rafael Almanzar, the Marketing director, who offered words of motivation to the athletes. With this start, the Gigantes del Cibao make it clear that their focus is on discipline and early preparation, key elements to being protagonists in the demanding schedule of Dominican winter baseball.
