Dominican Republic becomes the epicenter of world football with the visit of Gianni Infantino and Víctor Montagliani
The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, officially welcomed the highest authorities of international football to Punta Cana: FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Concacaf President Victor Montagliani. Both leaders arrived in the country to participate in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) assembly, a strategic conclave that brings together the leaders of the various Caribbean associations.
The reception, held at the Punta Cana International Airport, featured a high-level delegation that accompanied Minister Cruz, including the president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Garibaldi Bautista; the head of Centro Caribe Sports, Luis Mejía Oviedo; the Deputy Minister of Sports, Karilyn Chabebe; the senator for La Altagracia, Rafael Barón Duluc Rijo (Cholitín); and the National Soccer Commissioner, Benny Metz.
For the Dominican Republic, it is a source of pride to welcome FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Concacaf President Victor Montagliani, and all the leaders who are part of the Caribbean Football Union. Their presence in our country reaffirms the importance that the Dominican Republic has achieved on the international sports stage and, particularly, in the development and strengthening of football in our region.

Boosting local football development
During his stay, Gianni Infantino maintained direct communication with the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, who extended a warm welcome to the country. In this exchange, the FIFA President reiterated his commitment to collaborate closely with the Dominican State to enhance infrastructure and the comprehensive growth of football in the nation.
For his part, Minister Kelvin Cruz highlighted that hosting this CFU meeting positions the country as a benchmark in organizing large-scale sporting events. Likewise, he reiterated the Dominican Government’s firm commitment to promoting policies that ensure the international projection of athletes and the strengthening of local sports institutions.
