ITLA boosts the technological future: 118 young people receive scholarships for high-demand careers
The Instituto Tecnológico de Las Américas (ITLA) has reaffirmed its commitment to the professional development of Dominican youth through the awarding of 118 scholarships to pursue highly specialized technical degrees. This initiative seeks to close the access gap to higher education in key areas that currently lead the global labor market.
Those selected will have the opportunity to train in more than 14 technological programs, among which the following stand out:
- Artificial intelligence
- Cybersecurity
- Data science
- Mechatronics
- Multimedia

For the beneficiary students, this scholarship represents the fulfillment of personal goals and a significant relief in their academic burden. Maxelly Estrella, who will study Computer Security, expressed her enthusiasm for contributing to the strengthening of the country’s digital systems.
I always dreamed of having a scholarship. I really worked for a long time for it and the ITLA community gave me such a great opportunity. I envision myself working specifically on creating protection for our country’s data.

For her part, Ginelys Encarnación, a Multimedia student, highlighted the importance of receiving this support from the initial stages of her career, which will allow her to focus fully on her technical preparation.
Industry impact and female participation
The rector of ITLA, Jimmy Rosario Bernard, highlighted an encouraging fact: more than 47% of the scholarship recipients are women, which reflects positive progress in female integration into STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) careers. This effort to democratize access to technology is fundamental for the country’s digital transformation.
Juan Matos, Vice Rector of Extension and Social Development, emphasized that the programs have an average duration of two years and are designed according to the standards required by the industry. According to Matos, the high quality of the training allows many students to enter the labor market even before completing their academic training, highlighting that graduates of the institute are already part of renowned international technology corporations.
