The Ocoa Futuro Training Institute (ICOF) is certified under international ISO 21001:2025 standards

The Ocoa Futuro Training Institute (ICOF), an entity linked to the National Institute for Technical Professional Training (INFOTEP) network, has taken a historic step by initiating the implementation of the ISO 21001:2025 standard. With this project, the educational center positions itself as the first in the entire southern region of the country to adopt this international standard, specifically designed to optimize the management of educational organizations.

An educational transformation process

The initiative, which will span an estimated period of 10 months, seeks to raise the quality of the institute’s administrative and academic processes. After successfully concluding the diagnostic stage, the ICOF is now focusing on process documentation, staff training, and constant evaluation of its management system, preparing to obtain official certification.

This standard, updated in July 2025, focuses on continuous improvement, institutional performance, and, fundamentally, on meeting the needs of students and other beneficiaries of the educational system. Furthermore, the ICOF will integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria to ensure transparent and sustainable management.

Our vision is to be the regional benchmark for training. To achieve this, we need more than just good courses: we need processes that guarantee the same quality in every classroom, whether in-person or virtual.

Miriam Ortiz Pujols, Executive Director of ICOF.

Expansion and training offer

This technological and administrative advancement coincides with a period of significant growth for the institution. Currently, the ICOF offers programs in eight key areas, among which artificial intelligence, agro-innovation, entrepreneurship, digital education, and socio-emotional skills stand out. Looking ahead to 2026, the institute projects to consolidate an offering of 49 training programs, reaching more than 500 participants.

Strategic objectives

  • Establish measurable goals for all training programs.
  • Systematically evaluate student satisfaction and performance.
  • Align the educational offering with the actual skills demanded by the regional labor market.
  • Implement permanent mechanisms for continuous improvement.

The process has the technical support of the consulting firm ISOINNOVA, whose founder, María Teresa Gil Rosado, highlighted that the central objective is to unify the evaluation and participant care criteria so that management is measurable and efficient.

At the end of this implementation cycle, the ICOF will not only have a system structured under global standards, but will also be ready to move towards an independent certification process, consolidating itself as a fundamental educational pillar for San José de Ocoa and the entire Dominican South.
