Human trafficking network dismantled in Seville: 15 arrested and 15 victims rescued
In a decisive joint operation, the National Police and the Civil Guard of Spain have managed to dismantle two criminal organizations operating in the province of Seville, dedicated to the sexual exploitation of women. The police deployment culminated in the arrest of fifteen people and the liberation of fifteen victims, mostly of Colombian and Venezuelan nationality.
The operation allowed for the blocking of 15 bank accounts with a combined balance exceeding 30,000 euros and three properties allegedly used to conceal the profits obtained from the illicit activity.

The 15 detainees face charges for serious crimes, most notably human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, membership in a criminal organization, money laundering, drug trafficking, and crimes against the rights of workers and foreign citizens.
The problem of human trafficking in Spain
The case of Seville is a reflection of a persistent problem in Spanish territory. According to official data from the Ministry of the Interior, Latin American women are the group most affected by these networks. During the year 2024, security forces identified 632 victims of trafficking and sexual exploitation, of which 98% were women and 79% came from Latin America.

Differentiation between trafficking and exploitation
Spanish authorities emphasize the importance of distinguishing between human trafficking and sexual exploitation. While trafficking involves an organized network that recruits and transports the victim, sexual exploitation can occur in various contexts. In 2024, out of the 632 total victims, 256 were classified as victims of trafficking, while 376 were identified in situations of exploitation without the verification of an international transport network.
This phenomenon, which moves large sums of illicit money, remains a priority for law enforcement, which over the last year has managed to dismantle more than 110 criminal organizations across the country, reaffirming the commitment to combat the violation of human rights in all its forms.
