Alexandra Montero Case: Serious negligence reported after minor found in Arenoso
The tragic passing of Alexandra Montero, known as “Paloma,” has shocked Dominican society. The 16-year-old teenager was found lifeless in an irrigation canal in the community of El Aguacate, Duarte province, sparking a series of questions regarding the safety of minors and the efficiency of the authorities in the area.
Hansel García, a panelist at Alofoke Media Group, presented a detailed update on the case, denouncing a chain of irresponsibility ranging from the young woman’s family environment to the unethical handling of the mortal remains by forensic institutions.
Details of the facts and figures involved
According to the information shared, the young woman was at dawn in a place called “El Chispero,” an establishment where alcohol is consumed uncontrollably. After a basketball game ended, the minor left accompanied by a group, including an adult identified as Brenda, around 3:00 a.m.
In the investigation, the names of two persons of interest have emerged: an individual nicknamed “The Doctor” and another known as “Violo”. The former, who was under arrest, claimed to have left the minor in the hands of “Violo”, who subsequently turned himself in to the authorities for investigation purposes.
Unworthy treatment by authorities reported
They took him directly to the cemetery, placed him in a niche that was open, and abandoned him so that the body would not be taken or mistreated.

One of the most alarming aspects exposed by García is the handling of the corpse by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF). Due to the lack of personnel and resources in the Duarte province, the body did not receive proper transport to a morgue. According to the report, the community had to guard the corpse overnight to prevent it from being desecrated or from losing fundamental evidence to clarify the causes of death.
Criticism of the family environment and call to action
The lack of parental supervision was pointed out as a determining factor in this outcome. The victim’s father admitted to having found out about his daughter’s disappearance through social media, which generated strong criticism from the panel of experts regarding the lack of control and care for the minor.
- Demand for greater oversight of businesses that allow minors to enter and operate outside of legal hours.
- Call for parents and caregivers to regain control and responsibility at home.
- Request for justice so that the case does not go unpunished due to the family’s socioeconomic status.
The panel concluded by emphasizing the need for the Dominican authorities to act with greater rigor regarding the vulnerability of children, preventing avoidable tragedies from continuing to occur under the veil of institutional indifference.
