Dominican government promotes ambitious road infrastructure plan with more than a thousand kilometers under construction

The Dominican Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of national connectivity by reporting that, currently, 957 kilometers of roads are under construction throughout the entire territory. This effort is part of a comprehensive strategy designed to optimize mobility and transportation in the country.

During the second installment of the Weekly Agenda, a space led by President Luis Abinader, the status of projects and future plans of the Ministry of Public Works were detailed. According to official projections, the administration plans to deliver an additional 141 kilometers of roads before the end of the next quarter.

Connectivity and regional development strategy

The Minister of Public Works, Eduardo Estrella, explained that the works cover a wide range of infrastructure, including main and secondary roads, bypasses, bridges, and the modernization of access points to the most important urban centers. These actions seek to reduce travel times and improve road safety for citizens.

  • Impact on San Francisco de Macorís: 46 kilometers have been delivered recently, with another 50 kilometers scheduled for the next three months, consolidating a total of 104 kilometers in secondary roads for the area.
  • Eastern Corridor: The construction of a 103-kilometer corridor is highlighted, which will allow for a strategic connection between various locations, facilitating transit to the Northeast without the need to enter Greater Santo Domingo.

The authorities stated that the projects respond to a comprehensive plan aimed at progressively improving land communication between the different regions of the country.

With these works, the State seeks to transform the national transport dynamic, ensuring that the flow of goods and people is more efficient, thus boosting the economic and social growth of the communities impacted by these new routes.
